The Forest of Enchantments by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

3.0

The Forest of Enchantments- Is a book entailing the story of having lived the Ramayna from the pov of Sita. In the wide known version of the Ramayana, there is little to no voice given to Sita except for being Ram's wife and to be an idol for every other Desi woman to look upto. However in this book, we are shown how unfair and cruel the circumstances were for her, how she was subjected to practices such as 'Agnipariksha' which to any female, would be disrespectful. The period of her life are shown much more at depth and you feel sad for her not just as a character but as a fellow being.
