Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll

This is the literary equivalent of a warm hug.

I always chuckled at the thought of people scrambling to try and find meaning in this book when it was the novel that birthed the 'nonsense literature' genre. However, after reading the book, I can understand why it's so deeply alluring to readers. The story almost invites you to try and comprehend it, to find why and how everything is happening - only for it to shower you with nonsense characters, nonsense poems, and nonsense fun :D.

There are people who have done much more research into this book than me, so what I say is completely a matter of opinion, but I do believe that this book doesn't have any deeper meaning. It's a delightful, charming story about a young girl's journey through a mystical land filled with characters that are stand-ins for the people and attitudes that children face in their daily lives.

Both books are absolutely wonderful and I think that parents could actually learn a lot about their own children simply by reading them. I think I might just return to this anytime I need a comfort read!
