World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War
by Max Brooks
While I found this an interesting book, and I do like the way Brooks deals with people whose reactions aren't what we'd wish (although, after SARS, China has gotten considerably better about reporting their novel diseases, but that wouldn't have been so clear when Brooks was writing), I don't think this style of story telling is really my thing. What I mean, is that, while this oral history is very interesting way or writing the story, this and other vignette based novels don't really satisfy my desire in a novel for character development (since we only see a few characters more than once), and there isn't the sort of plot structure with building tension that keeps me reading. That said, this is probably one of the better examples of this style that I've seen.
