When Heroes Fall by Giana Darling

5.0

Ever since I read their short story in Meet Me Under the Mistletoe, I was absolutely obsessed with the chemistry between Elena and Dante. I was so incredibly excited to read their full story, and I am so PLEASED to say it !! did not fucking disappoint!!!
This is the recipe of my perfect book: a big mouthed female character who never backs down, who fully matches everyone around her, who gets painted as a villain more often that not - but who just needs some love to thaw. And the incredibly strong, misunderstood but so soft, passionate man who takes it upon himself to melt her. Add some forced proximity, some annoyance-to-lovers, sprinkle some BEAUTIFUL immigrant imagery and the adrenaline of a mafia plotline......... and this becomes an absolute treat to read! I couldn't stop, I didn't want to stop: I read this in one go, absolutely enthralled, giggling to myself because dio mio, the mouth on the man!

It was also absolutely perfectly written, I am pleasantly surprised by Giana Darling's style and I am pretty sure I will read more of her books and series from now on (and obviously continuing on with my favourite anti-heroes).

Yep yep yep yep, just loved every second of this and the characters are so memorable.

"I don't want to be loved."
"Let me love you anyway."
