The first two-thirds were kind of a slog (a lot of telling not showing going on), but the third act was very fun. Magic system is interesting but I wish there were more fantasy elements. Romance felt underdeveloped. The world building also seemed very thin on how this pirate culture works and why they're around
Graphic: Gun violence, Violence
Moderate: Misogyny, Sexual violence
A note about the sexual violence tag No actual sexual violence is depicted but the threat of it is used against the main character several times. She also reveals that the very end that her conception was the result of some dubious consent.
