This was a good story, but I just didn't connect with the characters. The story moves from 1976 to now to 1986 to 1959 and so on and I think I just couldn't connect because it didn't stay in one year long enough to get to know the characters. I found myself going back and forth to see how the years added up and it got kind of confusing at times. The story is interesting because it tells you how one man made a difference in the lives of 5 different women, but this man isn't even present. It's more about how his absence shaped them than anything. I think this is one of those books that you forget about as soon as you are done reading it.
