I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

emotional reflective sad medium-paced

5.0

Oh man... this was so good and so heartbreaking. Jennette details the abuse she endured as a child and even into her adult years at the hands of her mother, and though she never speaks to anything but her own personal experience, I think anyone reading this book will find they learn a lot about the effects of trauma. It must have been incredibly hard to write this and I'm impressed by her bravery and candor in writing about such a complicated relationship with the toxic mother she clearly loved, but is so much better off without.
