Fun and quick fantasy adventure with an interesting setup. I overall enjoyed this story but the characters felt a bit shallow and I didn't connect with them - maybe a little bit with Kell. Lila had a lot of elements I normally enjoy about characters but for some reason she really got on my nerves. I'm not sure how much of that was general character work and how much was the way the audiobook narrator voiced her. A few things were over-explained. Still enjoyable and I will probably pick up the second book via the library eventually.
