Novel about Billy Parham and his 3 crossings into Mexico. First was to release a pregnant wolf back into the wild, failed to do so and had to end the wolf's life himself to save it from being tortured by Mexicans who confiscated it. Second was to retrieve his family's stolen horses with his brother after his parents were killed by robbers, failed to do so as he ends up in shootups and entanglements with Mexicans. Third was to find his brother who ran away with a girl they met on the second crossing, succeeded in finding his grave and obtaining his remains which he took back to America to be burried.
One of the saddest books I've read, especially that first crossing. His life is pure shit.
