I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

dark emotional funny reflective sad tense medium-paced

4.0

The book captures the abhorrence of eating disorders, self-image, and the perplexities of having a relationship with a narcissistic parent intensively with its descriptions, as well as the inevitabilities of momentary digression in the journey of healing from it all. Additionally, Jennette gave great insight into the vulnerabilities child stars/actors face in Hollywood. However, I felt a slight dissatisfaction with the writing style; it was not as palatable as I would prefer. In certain instances, I thought there could have been a better choice of words. Still, this minor issue does not overshadow the book's content as it was an interesting read.
