The protagonist goes through a lot, nevertheless is a little freak whose perspective it is a disturbing delight to see the world through.
The midpoint was a bit of a slog but trust me keep going. The ending was fantastic. Very symbolic and philosophical about power, alienation, and belonging.
I felt like I was reading a legend, a mythology. The Odyssey for obsessive freaks, if you will. Sentences are expertly assembled and verbiage astutely selected (and translated!!) for maximum fun.
