The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

2.0

2/5 stars. The concept of this book was good but the execution was not. I really didn't care about the characters for most of the novel. Also how did none of them know Noah was dead?! That was extremely confusing and did not fit the characters? Like they believed in psychics and ley lines but not the ghost who told them they were a ghost?

Also the fact that the teacher killed him felt so random?? Like we had one mentioned that he went to the school before.

The book would have benefited from any world building at all.

The abuse Adam faced felt random and unnecessary to his character. Also very violent out of no where.

One of the characters made a comment along the lines of "you have really left the reservation" and it felt very inappropriate and racist for no reason. It added nothing to the story or character and caused my respect for the author to go down significantly.

All the "big reveals" felt very random and the way information was revealed throughout the book felt random. There were points that felt like I should have known things already that I didn't know and a lot of information I knew felt unnecessary.

Also how old is Blue? They said 16 and 18.
