Eh, this book was just okay. It was fine for the kind of book it is, but it's not setting the world on fire!
My introduction to Tom Hindle was A Fatal Crossing, and I think that set my expectations unfairly high. I'm not even sure that book was as good as I remember it! It was a decent enough murder mystery with an absolutely epic twist ending, and honestly I think the twist elevated it in my mind more than it really deserved. Unfortunately, Murder on Lake Garda doesn't have that elevation. I guessed whodunnit within the first fifty pages, and although I kept hoping for an interesting twist that would subvert my expectations the way A Fatal Crossing did, it never came.
I've still given this book three stars, because it was a quick and easy read and I still had some fun with it in the couple of hours it took me to get through. I guess it's just a case of knowing what you're looking for going in.
