Vile. Katya starts the story every possible kind of messed up - she literally should have been institutionalized for 1-6 months then released into a carefully planned setting to start renormalizing her life. Instead we have Dev toting her around like she’s a pet someone dumped on him that he doesn’t have time for but doesn’t want to hand off to anyone else. And then he starts in on the hardcore emotional abuse. The worst part is that the Shine Foundation deals with people as traumatized as Katya ALL THE TIME. They know what she needs and they have the resources to provide it. Technically I guess that this is more of a plot hole - a jumble of several serious plot holes - but the strain of trying to see this as a viable romantic pairing is more than I can handle. It’s a lot easier to see Dev as a serial abuser with no desire to reform and Katya as a badly injured woman who isn’t ready for a healthy relationship right now.
