Rhode Island Rendezvous: Book 3 of the Patricia McPherson Nautical Adventure Series by Linda Collison

4.0

I regret that I was introduced to this genre by Patrick O'brian, and after reading all of his books, then all of the Hornblower series, I had read the best the genre had to offer. It was all downhill from there. However, I still very much enjoyed the books by folks like Russell, Stockwin, and Williams. I place Collison and this series very soundly in the second tier with them (and there is certainly a very large lower tier in this genre). She has created a terrific character that I still care about three books in. The plots are gripping and the relationships matter (an element often missing in period naval fiction). I'm delighted that she seems committed to creating a long series. I'll read them all. I only regret that I got the book for $0.99. I would have liked to pay considerably more, but it is perhaps that regret that made me feel obliged to write this review.
