Winner Take All
by Laurie Devore
Not. A. Fan.
This book had the potential to be great, but it just wasn’t. The romantic element had SO MUCH POTENTIAL, but it ended up being severely toxic. They love each other, but they both use and hurt each other to prove a point, to “win”. Even when you thought Jackson was at his most vulnerable and sincere, he was still playing her, but in the name of LOVE. And Nell, oh my gosh, I couldn’t with her. She was a terrible friend, and played Jackson just as hard as he played her, but they loved each other? The severity of her desire to be the best and win, especially in a setting where she is the only “have not” in the sea of “haves”, it was obsessive and gross. As previously mentioned, I’m not a fan. To the point that I’m changing my two stars to one. I was so disappointed with this book.
