What a weird and brilliant book. For 75% of the book you really aren’t sure what is going on and it is truely unique in the storytelling and genre.
All Gideon the Ninth wants is to leave the Hellhole of a planet she lives on and go far away from the dreary nun-like existence she lives in. Harrowhark has other ideas and thwarts her final attempt instead making her travel to compete in a contest between all the Houses for who knows what reason, Gideon certainly doesn’t know why.
I loved Gideon - despite having a shitty life she has such optimism and is quite an upbeat protagonist. I still have so many questions and can’t wait to pick up Harrow.
