beaucoupmitch 's review for:
Gulliver's Travels
by Jonathan Swift
I, personally, am tired of reading this. Because:
1. The main problem: language. Because my first language isn't English and it was written in 1700s by an Irish. In the book I find it's written as 'persons' instead of 'people'.
Besides, I find the word 'princes' that I thought was the plural word for prince, but then he wrote 'she' and I found out that the 'princes' here is actually 'princess'. So I kind of misunderstood in some parts of the book. Well, I'm not used to the middle english language.
2. I thought this was a fantasy-adventure-kind-of book.Stupid me. I expected to get the adventure of Mr. Gulliver in the island when something happens and he does something heroic.
But see what I got: this is an allegory.
Swift compared Liliput with the country he lived in. This book is all about sarcasm.
To those who dont like serious problem like politics and laws, this is absolutely not recommended.
