City of the Lost: Part Six by Kelley Armstrong

5.0

I loved this serial book. It was a different type of story from Kelley Armstrong, with no supernatural aspect as most of her books have. But as always, she writes great stories, peopled with unique interesting characters, and she always approached things from a clever, twisty perspective.

The story about a place where people who need to disappear can go and live a quiet peaceful life was a pretty clever premise, and I liked the way it played out. Once you accept the idea, the rest of what happens is plausible, including murder - people are people, after all - and the addition of Casey as the new deputy worked perfectly as a cat among the pigeons.

The intrigues of the various town residents was entertaining and well-written to keep you off balance right to the last part where we find out what's really going on. No spoilers, but I will say that as always, Kelley Armstrong gives the reader a proper ending to the story. I was satisfied with the ending.

The serial story approach was new for me, and I wasn't sure how I was going to like having to wait for the next part. Fortunately, the new parts were released very promptly and without a long wait time between them. So by the time I finished the current part, the next part was available. Now anyone who wants to download this can immediately get the whole six parts and read start to finish without waiting.
