The Clinic by Cate Quinn

4.0

I loved the vibes of this book! It felt like a mash up of some of my favorite books and movies. The main character Meg had an interesting job working at a casino and then she checks herself into a clinic to find out what happened to her rock star sister. The hardcover book is over 400 pages and I devoured it in 2 days. I just had to know what was going on with the characters, the doctors, the investigation, and again the vibes were great. I was super impressed up until the ending when it got a bit drawn out and once everything was revealed the story still had more much less interesting stuff to say. I was surprised by some of the reveals which is always refreshing for someone who reads a bunch of books in the same genre, but I’ll caution readers from thinking about it too hard because there’s only so many characters and 1 location. This is the first book I read by the author and according to the author’s note it’s quite a personal book because she drew inspiration for her own time in rehab, or at least got the story idea. Can’t wait to read something else by her in the future.
