My Love Story by Tina Turner

3.0

2.5*

According to my Goodreads, I started reading this book in August and it took me almost four months to get through it. This is particularly strange because for an autobiography, it’s quite short - spanning over less than 300 pages. One of the reasons that I kept putting this book down was the writing style - it didn’t particularly gel with me because it comes across as over-simplistic, almost told in a fairytale type manner and the exposition got annoying. I was about to DNF but decided to watch a few Tina Turner interviews. I think that propelled my reading experience because I realised she wrote the book, just like she talked. I’m glad I finished it but for a woman with such an extraordinary story to tell, it didn’t seem to be enough, at least for me.
