Visually stunning, an interesting if overdone basic premise, interesting world - but holy smokes is it crude/graphic/vulgar for really no reason. It's not likely I'll continue- I'd like to know more about Hazel and what goes on in general, but the peripheral content isn't worth wading through to me to find out. (Please note this is a matter of personal preference; it's good writing, it's just not for me. 2 stars reflect just how basic the premise is and how much time is devoted to shock factor instead of furthering the plot.)
Graphic: Body horror, Death, Drug use, Grief, Gun violence, Racial slurs, Fatphobia, Murder, Rape, Slavery, Violence, Pregnancy, Racism, Sexual content, War, Xenophobia, Blood, Death of parent, Gore, Hate crime, Injury/Injury detail, and Sexual assault
