Home Before Dark by Riley Sager

4.0

So I LOVE haunted house stories, and so far I loved all three Riley Sager books that I read before this one so I was understandably excited for this. I wasn't fully sure what to expect but I figured it would be a good time regardless. And I was right, once again this was a good book. But, not great.

So this is basically a story about a girl who's father wrote a novel about the haunting of the house the had once lived in, it gained a lot of success, but unfortunately it wasn't true. Or at least thats what she believed until 25 years later fate brings her back to the house.

Its a spooky mystery filled with twists and turns and many things that go bump in the night. You've got a dual timeline telling showing the events that took places as told by her fathers famous book, and you have her perspective in the present. Each revealing a little more of the story, which I really enjoyed. It was interesting, and I really enjoyed it but I didn't feel anything special in the end. I don't know why this book wasn't a success for me.
