I read this as part of a book club/buddy and I had some apprehensions as this was not my usual genre and having not read anything by this author yet.  I vaguely knew him by reputation. That's it.
Man oh Man. What a ride!
This book had absolutely everything needed for a good epic fantasy.  A complex world.   An elaborate system of politics and class. A dark and mysterious environment.  Small missions so that our main character learns to use her powers and trusts her mentors. Us caring more and More about them. More and more complicated quests to reveal the ultimate goal which seems crazy unattainable.  Ultimate battle with the big boss. Drum rolls. ✨Plot twist✨.  Explanations of why and how and Little mis  en bouche for the next book. It looks like I described Harry Potter.
In short, it was extremely well executed and had a great time.
What I appreciated the most was the (almost) absence  of romance.  The main character is just a bad B with a goal other than saving the love of her life.  In a world full of ACOTAR we need more Mistborn.
