I think the twists in this book were done better than many of Sager’s books, but he lost me with the whole possession thing. I just really didn’t enjoy the supernatural element and was disappointed that it became the pivotal focus of the novel. However, I felt like the characters were better fleshed out than many of his other female characters, and appreciated that I didn’t expect the ending. I do feel like it’s hard to believe that a mother would send her child to get sober in the place where her husband drowned though.
