This is the second book I’ve read by Murakami and it will be my last. I will never get over his inability to respectfully write on women and their stories - no, I don’t need pages upon pages of words describing Naoko’s, Midori’s, etc bodies.
I still give the book two stars because it’s not that Murakami is a bad writer. He just chooses the worst topics to write on. I will say, though, when Toru is going throughdepression and what appears to be dissociative states , I thought these sections were well written. Alas, not enough to redeem the rest of the novel.
