I don't know what people were talking about when they said this book was 'just fine' because I thought this book was great! Perhaps it helps to realign your expectations - don't go in thinking this is going to be a thriller or about serial killing - most of the killing happens off the page. It's more about family dynamics and is oddly satirical. The short chapters really help you read it fast and I really liked what the book had to say and how it was said.
