Dance of Deception by Jagger Cole
5.0

If I let this feeling in and accept it, I know exactly what that means.
It means Lyra isn’t just a possession anymore, she’s a weakness.
And I don’t have weaknesses.
At least, I didn’t—until now.

Now that I think about it, it's probably for the best that I read an e-book and don't own a hardcopy for this book, because God (or may I say, the devil, in this case) knows just how much time I would have spent highlighting and annotating the whole damn book.

This is my second read by Jagger, and honestly, I am once again left speechless. Where do I even start? There's something so very animalistic that his books manage to bring out in me, and I'm both terrified and excited by the feeling.

Carmine is the literal embodiment of darkness, the perfect person to lead the Mafia with his clear cold demeanor and how he stands unaffected by the darkness that comes with his occupation. This book had me afraid, excited and nervous, all at once, for Lyra, because that's just the kind of person Carmine Barone is. Don't mistake his cold behavior and callous image for a stone-heart, because he'd set the world on fire for those he loves *cough cough*

All I can say right now is, I'm in love, I can't wait for the next book 💗

It isn’t just that I’m drawn to Carmine’s darkness.
It’s that I want it.
He sees a part of me I’ve spent years pretending wasn't there—raw and hungry, answering his.
Was it always there, hidden behind the walls I built in the hopes they would keep me safe? Or is he the one pulling it out of me?
The worst part…
I don’t know if I want him to stop.
