After hitting a few duds lately it was refreshing to listen to a book that had me laughing throughout!
Best friends Alex and Emma move into a flat in Sevenoaks, a small town in Kent, the same time as two guys are moving in to the flat across from them. While Emma immediately falls for Mark, Alex is put off by taciturn, grumpy Callum. She’s not in the market for a man, though, since she’s been dating Thomas, her boyfriend for three years. When Thomas informs her he’s going to a month long artists’ workshop in San Francisco, she’s excited for him, but at the end of the month she realizes he has gained a lot more than just new art skills from his month away. Callum sees Alex at her lowest and shows her first impressions aren’t always telling of who someone is.
I really loved this book. I found the premise to be so cute and I loved the zaniness of some of Alex’s clients. This is the first book I’ve read by Phoebe MacLeod but it certainly won’t be the last!
