The Invention of Morel by Adolfo Bioy Casares

5.0

I picked this up because I am a big, big fan of Lost, this book is shown in an episode, and from reading the synopsis it seems like it ticks a lot of the same boxes, and I truly was not disappointed.

Much like Lost, it starts off vague and mysterious, and then takes a turn into being almost straight-up science fiction, but using these sci-fi elements to explore the nature of humanity, namely our desire for immortality, and a romanticisation of unrequited love.

I also really love a nice 100-page book that knows what it's about, speeds along nicely, and is a nice quick read. My lack of attention span is hugely grateful.
