Voices from Chernobyl: The Oral History of a Nuclear Disaster
by Svetlana Alexiévich
This is a heart-rending collection of accounts of the experiences of people affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, including mis-information/lack of information coming from the government, lack of control over the supply-chain of contaminated food products, workers sent to "clean" up the area, and the death and disease endemic to the region.
I gave this 4 stars, averaging 5 stars for importance of the book, and 3 stars for readability. There is little analysis, but the voices are very important to hear.
