fell asleep every 5 pages, not even exaggerating. the invention and ending were the best part. the story, prose, characters and ambiance though, entirely underwhelming. thank god, the book is short... i would have lost it otherwise. maybe they were right, people don't like adventure stories anymore and, clearly, here 'people' means me. if Last Year in Mariebad truly took inspiration from this book : my boredom could tell.
