The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny
4.0

I took a small break from Chief Inspector Gamache, but when this title popped up on an Audible sale, I was sucked right back in. (Finished this one and have already started book #6).

I didn't get as much of my Three Pines friends in this one, but despite that it was immersive. The story that weaves through the book (about a boy who tries to steal from the Mountain King) was as good as the book itself! I was dying for each installment (and feel like I didn't get all of it - much like the book itself. It feels...unfinished. Luckily from reading other reviews, I heard more of the story is revealed in book 6.).

Another nugget of extra goodness is Ruth's poetry. In Louisiana, great customer service often involves "Lagniappe," a little something extra, be it a sample or some other little giftie. I feel Ruth's words are a Lagniappe added to each book. I love her and her pet duck.
