Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah

5.0

I went into this memoir knowing little and less about South Africa, and wow. It exposed my Eurocentric biases, made me laugh, made me cry. The journey Noah takes you on is a little disjointed and bumpy, but in a calculated way. And his mother, Patricia? Is a FORCE. If I am ever a mother I hope to be half the woman she is, the pillar of strength and goodness for her children (though perhaps without the corporal punishment). 10/10, highly recommend this read.
