The book examines antiquated notions of mental health treatment. The author worked the midnight shift at an institution apparently, so he saw the atrocities that were used to "cure" people back in the day. More than that though, the author clearly touches on the idea of dominant females being controlling and demasculinizing men. Many portions of the book made me want to role my eyes, but realize thinking has changed since this book was written. Not sure why it became a hit and was made into the movie. (at least the movie was humorous). The book falls short of making a real point or in being funny. Almost didn't finish, but stuck it out.
