Confessions of a Shopaholic
by Sophie Kinsella
While I enjoyed the storyline (it's cute and happy-go-lucky, a true beach read), the character infuriated me! The author intends the main character to be "real," and so she has many intended-to-be-lovable character flaws and she entangles herself in a series of mishaps that are supposed to be comical. However, they (and she) ended up turning me off. I was frustrated by how stupid she seemed, and how she brought her problems upon herself. I kept wanting to reach in the pages and slap her! Only read this book if you enjoy a fun, mindless plot and don't mind characters who are beyond saving themselves.
