It is HARD for a book like this—hyped massively, sitting on my shelf for years—to meet expectations, but my god. I felt a lot. It's lyrical and the prose really is just lovely. I read the last 100 pages in a park in broad daylight and cried so hard I gave myself the hiccups. It made me feel like a kid! Overwhelmed and heartbroken but in a way I knew would end, and I knew was needed. It didn't end where I expected it to and I felt really grateful for that. Worth the ride and the pain.
