Exit West by Mohsin Hamid

A pretty great refugee story. Told in a bit of an alternate universe perhaps to make it more removed from the reader's own perceptions and emotions. But this was the bit that maybe removed me from the story too much. I also felt it kind of should have got to the we've escaped we can be happy now bit, instead it spent most of the time on the complexity of what the characters were going through. This was maybe the point as the author does well to humanize the refugee plight, wherever they're from. As he writes,"We are all migrants through time."
