although i did enjoy this book, this is not my favorite TJR book to date. as a debut book, it is very clear that TJR’s storytelling has grown by leaps and bounds in her new books!
regardless, this was still a decent story. i liked the the story was split into then and now perspectives and i felt like the premise of the story was really important. loss, love, and death were woven into a beautiful story about where we go when we lose the one we love. my biggest complaint about this book was that i just did not like elise or ben as characters. i found elise very bratty and annoying and i just did not feel like i could empathize with her as much as i felt like i should have been able to in this book. i felt like if i had read this book prior to reading any other books by TJR, i definitely would have enjoyed it more. but knowing how much TJR has improved and how good and moving her new books are sort of skewed my perception of this book. i did feel like there were some really special quotes about love in this one; TJR never misses with her quotes! definitely still a very beautiful story about love and loss and moving on after loss.
