The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett

2.5

I have two year elevens at school who have been desperate for me to read Discworld. They didn't want me to start with this one, but I hate doing things out of order. I was told regardless of what I felt about this one, I should read at least up to book three before I give up, as the third book is where it gets good... It might take a while for me to get there though.

I wanted to love it; I really did. Every time the kids talk about these books, they make them sound so fun. The reality for me was that I couldn't remember who was who aside from the two main protagonists, because their names were just gibberish. I didn't find much of it funny, though I do love Douglas Adams, so I'm not averse to bizarre humour in general... This just didn't really hit for me. I liked the luggage.
