The Bass Rock by Evie Wyld

I really, really thought I was going to love this. I did love it, halfway through. Even three-quarters through. But at a certain point, it was the same old thing - why is it that when people have a point to make about violence against women, they have to do so by being so gratuitous? It's bad. It's pervasive. We get it. We live it. I don't need the gratuity in a Quentin Tarantino movie where it's being used to shock the audience, and I don't need it from supposedly feminist books where it ends up diluting any other message that should be coming across.
