Inevitable by Briar Prescott
This was my first ever romance book I read with a poly relationship.
Two of them are best friends since forever and also (not so) secretly in love with each other. One of them is asexual and thinks their relationship could never work out because of him.
Then they meet Ezra.
I really loved the poly rep and also the ace rep in this!!!
It was openly and thoroughly talked about and felt super realistic.
Also I loved that this book wasn’t just a “threesome” fantasy. If you expect a lot of sex scenes in this...well there aren’t. It focuses more on their relationship itself and the problems, but also why they complete each other so perfectly.
My main problem was myself I guess. I just didn’t feel it. I didn’t feel the love between them because for me there weren’t enough scenes with them actually interacting.
I can imagine that it’s very hard with three MCs that also have a background story to keep the book short, but also tell a good story.
I personally just don’t like “we talked about everything and nothing” or “we talked all night” phrases. I need the actual conversations. I need to see and feel when they fall for each other. Instead there were a lot of fighting scenes.
So I guess it was just my personal taste that kept me from loving this book completely.
I would still recommend this book, if only for the rep, because Briar Prescotts style of writing is amazing and the story itself was good too.
