Dead Space by Kali Wallace

This is the first non-romance book I've read in forever and I'm really glad it was this one. The parts of the story that were dealing with Hester's past were actually my favorite, there's something about good sci-fi that is able to capture the inherent hopefulness of space exploration and juxtapose it with human fragility and crushing failure. I wish we could've seen Hester interact with her nonbinary ex some more and a longer conclusion at the end, but I thoroughly enjoyed the lesbian representation even without an obvious love interest. The approach to capitalist corporate greed and the horrors of war were handled really well as an overarching theme, in my opinion.
