"Because life without tenderness isn't very special"

I found the story hard to grasp at first, the boy or Zeze grew up dirt poor and his mischievousness made it harder for me to love him but I realized it was because I was reading this five-year old point of view in my 23year old pov, I suddenly understood him more when he had learned what tenderness is with the help of Portuga.

Portuga in a way became my eyes that made me understood Zeze, a misunderstood child who never knew what love is when adults around him aren't always around and when they were, they would beat him leaving him to his own little world.

My words can never express how I am happy to have experience such a beautiful story as this.
