Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

3.0

yes this took me over a year to finish. i don’t want to talk about it! as a twilight fan i have lots of thoughts on this one so!!

okay. first i want to see i hated how long this book was. my copy was a good three hundred pages longer than the og twilight — even though its following the same plot. stephenie meyer have mercy next time, please. i understand that hearing everyone’s thoughts = more to write about, but my gosh.

meyer’s writing did improve a lot here though. especially compared to the first twilight but, like, duh. there were some lines i was actually shocked to read in a twilight book. like the entire persephone, hades and pomegranate part!!! loved, loved, loved that part!!!

also i’m literally a bella girlie til i die. that’s my wife!!!! you guys don’t understand her like i do. with that said, this book has far too much edward. every time bella wasn’t in the scene (which isn’t much; there’s no really no such thing as bella without edward, and vice versa) i was snoozing. also, edward kept referring to “the monster” which was simply his desire to kill bella, so that was definitely something.

there’s some parts where edward and bella are genuinely cute, and the romance is almost admirable. then, you remember this is twilight and he’s literally insane!
