Hawk Mother: The Story of a Red-Tailed Hawk Who Hatched Chickens by Kara Hagedorn

4.0

What an interesting story. I think this is a very cool read, and would probably be really interesting for a curious or nature/science-minded child - but I also think it's written in a way that makes it a little bit difficult for young children to understand (talk about fertile vs. infertile eggs, for example, and use of other specific terms). There's a glossary at the end, and I'm all for teaching kids technical stuff, but I think there's a bit of a gap between the way the book is presented and the way it reads (which is just a little bit blunt). A really nice (true) story, though!
