Did not finish book. Stopped at 41%.
Dnf at 41 percent. I loved the first part of this book and as soon as the setting switched away to The Pole I stopped liking it as much. It really went downhill as more characters were introduced. I need some likable characters to enjoy a book and I agree with other reviewer’s thoughts with the women being portrayed pretty negatively personality wise or person-wise (although to clarify I really only met two women other than Ophelia who stood out.)
Honestly the physical abuse thing and the one character who I am forgetting the name of joking about seducing the main character has made me choose to not continue with the story. I just think more of this is going to keep coming up in the story (and that is what another review said would be the case) and I don’t want to deal with it.
It’s a shame, I really liked Ophelia and liked her great uncle, but the other elements in the story just aren’t working for me. I was enjoying the book decently enough until maybe the 30 percent mark.
