“there’s a very short list of people in my life that i allow myself to truly care of, and it looks like i just added another name to it.”
another amazing book! this is my second sarah adams book and it did not disappoint me. the story follows amelia rose, known as rae rose, who decides to get away for a while from maintaining her “princess of pop” image. inspired by her favorite audrey hepburn film, she drives off in the middle of the night for a break in rome, kentucky. and there, she meets a pie shop owner, noah walker, who keeps her heart locked and does not what to get attached to the popular popstar.
first of all, the plot and the writing style of this book is perfect and amazing. the first encounter of the main leads is cute, which made the story really interesting. plus, the grumpy-meets-sunshine trope is on a whole different level. for me, the story absolutely has no dull moments. when i was reading this book, i wish i was someone living in a small town like rome, and i kind of imagine myself being the fmc. one more thing i like about the story is the mmc, he’s definitely s grumpy green flag in the fictional universe. and i love the way he describes the fmc in his own point-of-view.
overall, reading this book was an enjoyable experience, a collection of amazing tropes, emotions, and heart-felt conversation. this is a type of story that you would want to read when you feel sad and you’re looking for a quick escape. i will highly recommend this book to everyone who loves romcom.
