Man what a wild ride.
This book hit everything on the nail so well when it comes to the way people can be beat over the head with evidence on top of evidence and how you have to do so much more as a BW to be listened to, believed and then HELPED when it comes to these situations.
The Diddy trial has just started (2025) like these types of people are STILL out here TO THIS DAY and have BEEN out here. Everyone for years has just turned a blind eye.
From the way Enchanted was constantly questioned, gaslit (especially whenher friend Gab was MIA due to being threatened if she came forward) she had no one to turn to. Getting her addicted to opioids and lean drinks all the time she was starting to lose her shit and almost question if her friend was a figment of her imagination. The way other women would immediately ostracize her and treat her little sister bad now because of it, the way her parents were stressed the hell out, the way you THINK YOU KNOW someone (yes I'm talking about YOU Derrick), and they still show you at the end of the day, they are in it for themselves no matter what. So many secrets were exposed, and you really get to see exactly how CALCULATED some of these people are. It boggles my brain how disgusting humans can be to one another.
This was a great read. I deeply encourage people to pick it up. This story is full of layers.
It was frustrating to listen to the opposing victim-blaming arguments because their logic is always the same and it's almost like you're not having true conversations with people about this because they just regurgitate the same 3 sentences most of the time.
Being an adult reading this, you catch so many red flags in every sentence in the way she was spoken to and a lot of the body language surrounding their "relationship". Hopefully in time people involved or bystanders in general will be able to pick up on these things a lot faster IRL to realize "hey this feels off, this should not be happening" and to do something or notify people to help.
It took a very long time for some victims to realize they were manipulated by the same man, that they were not special. Each girl was one number among MANY.
He is not a good person.
Save yourself.
Save others.
Get help when you can.
GET. OUT. FAST.
10/10 recommend.
Can't wait to read more from Tiffany D Jackson.
