As someone who has read so much fanfic, published erotica, and yaoi in every medium, this book follows the tropes of a dark bl romance but it commits to it. There's incest, but their step-siblings, but they did actually grow up with each other. There's murder, but it was orchestrated, but our ML would have actually have done it. There's rape, but there's a literal legal trial over sexual assault, but also the ML learns his rapist was his brother/love interest and is fine with it. It seems like the author is going to subvert the tropes of bl but turns around and commits so hard I have to respect it.
